Hi, Seb!
I`ve just checked another webpage (www.verkehrsportal.de). According to this page you don`t have to do anything because your italian driver`s license will also be accepted here in Germany.
Cheers Steffi

Hi!
It`s me again! If you`d like to check it on you own, maybe for example your embassy can help you. The page I mentioned is comletely written in german so I`m afraid you won`t understand it.

thanks for the answer...i know i can use it here but i want to convert it because the italian driving license last 10yr and i have to renew it every time (in my case through embassy and it's tedious and takes time), while the german one lasts all life-long (or 50yr, don't remember).
looking that i'm not going back to italy would be much easier for me to convert it...

Ok, I didn`t know that. Then you should go to the office where you can propose a new driver`s license (I don`t know how it`s called in Berlin; most people here just say "Führerscheinstelle") and ask someone what to do. Usually the people there should be able to give you some more informations. You should also ask someone who speaks Italian or English AND German to join you because maybe you`ll need someone to translate. Otherwise it could be a bit difficult to explain what you want and what you have to do now.

Yes, Steffi, you're right. @Sebastian: Please contact for the area of Berlin by email: labo@fuehrerschein.berlin.de. There you can ask all your questions. You need following things: 1. Passport 2. 2 pictures (same like in your passport or similar) 3. confirmation that you'll stay longer than six months in Germany 4.valid driving license from another European country (member of European Union). 5. fee of approx. 35,- Euro 6. time..., you know, it's a German authority ;-))
